His passion for fishing and curiosity of the sea started at the age of eight when he began pestering the local fisherman at Portreath to accommodate him on their boats for the day to learn about potting for lobster and crabs.
The following years saw him travel the high seas in vessels of all shapes and sizes as crew, where he followed a career in commercial fishing including beam trawling, scalloping, gill netting, long lining and hand lining.
A vast knowledge of wreck fishing and commercial experience has proved him well with some great fish being landed aboard his vessels over the years, last year saw thirteen new county records landed onboard the Blue Minstrel, some of this years specimen fish can be viewed in the photo pages of this site.
In the last three years at Falmouth he has logged in excess of eight thousand sea miles and his knowledge of the area is vast, however in his own words he will tell you, there's always something new to learn and the sea is a magical place that is always full of surprises.
