The key to catching is knowing what bait to use, and how and when to use it

As a rule we us fresh or live baits and catch them on the day, however we recommend that you bring a back up just in case, Ammo produce a good quality range of frozen baits and are available from all good tackle shops.

Mackerel, Squid and Sand eel  are all favourites that produce excellent results

On the bigger tides we use artificial lures such as shads and red gills, many an hour we have debated what colours are best, however you can guarantee a whopper gets caught on something obscure every time , banana skin, sausages and the like have all tempted fish over the side in the past and produces a good chuckle amongst the crew.

We use only local suppliers for bait and support them through out the year

Cornishfishing.co.ukWave Chieftain - Fishing Falmouth Throughout The Year

The choice of literally dozens of wrecks at our finger tips means there is always something on the feed, you can steam miles out or just fish in the bay, this gives us great flexibility when the weather plays up, and as such we rarely have to cancel a trip.

Falmouth is the third deepest natural harbours in the world, depths of some 120ft are available just in the harbour alone.

Outside the bay depths drop down to some 300ft,making it challenging even for the best of anglers when battling with big fish.

There are some huge Conger eels in the bay that are still waiting to be caught, local  commercial fisherman have landed fish in excess of 200lb

Pictured left is Emma Hodge with a 65lb conger that she landed on 30lb class gear !!

Falmouth is host to several large reefs that hold an array of fish types, some of which are seasonal  but most are common through out the year.

A truly relaxing way to fish with the excitement of not knowing quite what you may catch.

During the spawning season the Pollack fishing can get quite frantic on the reefs and we generally get a good run of whiting, throughout the year

Closer to shore we have some excellent fishing for Rays, Dogfish and Bull Huss along with Red Gurnard, Garfish, Mullet and Bass

We offer Bass fishing trips in the Manacles using live baits throughout the year
